About Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann
LPHS is a Band 1 Chambers-ranked litigation boutique based in Dallas, Texas. Known for its trial firepower – including former federal and Texas Supreme Court clerks – the firm handles high stakes disputes in financial services, healthcare, insurance, and other major sectors.
Opportunity
In high-stakes litigation, every hour counts. Too often, LPHS found that its lawyers were spending too much time on essential yet routine tasks like generating first drafts, legal research, and document analysis. These time-consuming tasks pulled focus from client strategy and advocacy.
Off the shelf AI tools were non-starters: they didn’t understand legal nuance, risked confidentiality, and couldn’t match LPHS standards. The firm needed more than automation. It needed augmentation. Harvey was the clear choice, given its platform is designed specifically for legal work, offering secure infrastructure, and ability to seamlessly integrate into internal workflows.
"We were looking for a way to save time without compromising quality,” said Chris Schwegmann, Managing Partner. “Unlike generic AI tools, Harvey understands legal context and nuance, which is table-stakes in helping to ensure we can operate with greater agility and focus on the work that allows us to deliver maximum to our clients.”
Solution
LPHS launched Harvey with a pilot program, led by Schwegmann and supported by a tech-forward team of partners and associates. Over the course of the pilot, lawyers tested Harvey across a range of litigation use cases, including: drafting, research, deposition preparation, and creation of internal memos.
Broad adoption came from a cultural shift: treating generative AI as a starting point, not a shortcut. Once attorneys saw how Harvey enhanced their work without replacing their voice or judgment, enthusiasm grew. “Our younger lawyers saw Harvey as more than a time-saver. It’s a way to think deeper, faster—and contribute earlier, “ noted Schwegmann.
Today, Harvey is deeply embedded in LPHS’s workflows, delivering measurable gains in both efficiency and strategic output. Attorneys report saving over eight hours weekly—time that is reinvested into high-value work like client counseling, mentoring, and case strategy.
- Winning New Business: Harvey accelerates the pace in which LPHS can respond to proposal requests. When a prospective client sent hundreds of documents to several firms with an urgent issue, LPHS used Harvey to extract key facts and craft a tailored, persuasive response, delivered in less than 48 hours, when other firms needed a week to respond. LPHS won the business – and a long-term client.
- Accelerated Strategic Leverage: Attorneys at LPHS utilize Harvey daily to conduct large-scale document review and analysis. On the morning of a mediation, opposing counsel dumped hundreds of insurance documents on the LPHS team. Harvey summarized and analyzed the documents within minutes, giving the team immediate insights, a significant advantage allowing the team to focus their efforts on resolving the outstanding issues of the case, instead of a full day of manual document review.
- Smarter Onboarding: Harvey accelerates how associates get up to speed on complex issues, allowing them to contribute meaningfully earlier. Senior lawyers, in turn, spend more time refining arguments and mentoring talent. “In complex cases, that means we’re not just moving faster—we’re thinking deeper, earlier,” explained Schwegmann. “Harvey helps collapse the time between getting oriented and getting ahead.”
Impact
“Harvey has become a true thinking partner. It helps us pressure-test arguments, explore strategies, and deliver value faster than ever,” said Schwegmann. As attorneys have now embraced Harvey as a core part of their practice, LPHS now views generative AI as a catalyst for transforming legal work.
“Harvey is playing a central role in that shift, it has the potential to restore something traditional to the practice: more time for strategy, creativity, and client counseling, while also pushing us toward a faster, more responsive model of service,” added Schwegmann. “We’re eager to keep building alongside a team that understands both the power of AI and the craft of litigation.”
As Harvey continues to evolve, LPHS is excited about deeper integrations, more tailored capabilities, and continued collaboration to shape the future of high-impact litigation. Because at LPHS, it’s not just about being faster, it’s about being better.
